Although the definition of this profession changes from one country to another, we can define beauticians (women make up 94% of the profession) as beauty professionals who carry out different manual and mechanical skincare treatments to maintain and improve the aesthetic condition of face and body. We should point out that the treatments they provide is not curative.
They also advise their clients about the latest hygiene developments and monitor their physical and moral well-being
.
After carrying out a thorough and personalised study of their clients’ problems, they will not undertake any treatments that exceed the strict context of their training (but they will refer their clients to the appropriate and qualified specialists).
And finally, they are people who have qualified in cosmetology, which means that they are able to recommend beauty products that are suitable for their clients.
From a legal point of view beauticians administer beauty treatments in a regular and independent capacity, for the skin of the face, the hands and feet or other parts of the body, using the techniques or products intended uniquely to maintain or improve the aesthetic appearance of the person being treated.
It goes without saying that the technical aspect of these treatments demands a serious professional training.
